Oilers Snatch Late Win
|
The Niagara Falls Rapids went down to defeat to Jake Couture and his Oil City teammates. The final score was 5-2, Oilers, in 10 innings. Conan Watson picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Brantley Salvant suffered the loss. The Oilers raised their record to 18-40.
The decisive blow was delivered by Martin Gwathmey in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a 3-run home run off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Brantley Salvant to win the game for Oil City. The home crowd went nuts.
"Jake was dictating to their hitters," said Oil City manager Zeke Butler.
