Strube Swings Spikes to 9-5 Win
The State College Spikes trumped the West Virginia Black Bears, 9-5, at Dutchess Stadium. State College first baseman Gordon Strube was terrific. He was 4 for 5 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. The Spikes, at 41-14, sit in first place in the New York-Penn League South Division.

With State College leading 5-4 in the top of the seventh, Strube hit a fastball from Jayden Arria for a 2-run double. It was his 12th double of the season and put the Spikes ahead, 7-4.

"What's not to like about a win?" said Strube.
