The State College Spikes beat the Connecticut Tigers, 6-3, at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. Jesús Vega starred for State College. He was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Sebastian Swartz got credit for the win, improving to 4-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. Kristopher Hill finished the game for State College and earned his 2nd save.
Vega had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 1-1 fastball from Rob Powell, he banged a 3-run home run to center, giving the Spikes a 6-3 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Vega.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Vega told the State College Observer.
State College has a record of 30-24, placing them third in the New York-Penn League South Division.
