Boen Leads ValleyCats to Win
|
Tri-City and West Virginia got after it at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.
Tri-City center fielder Jason Boen had 3 ribbies while helping his team defeat the West Virginia Black Bears, 5-3. Evan Munro earned the save for Tri-City, his 3rd of the year.
Boen contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Tri-City in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Boen took a cutter from Kraig Liwag and stroked the home run to left. His 9th home run of the season allowed the ValleyCats to leap in front, 4-2.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Boen.
Tri-City's record now stands at 24-30, placing them 7th in the New York-Penn League North Division.
