At Falcon Park, the Auburn Doubledays and Youngstown Gremlins were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Youngstown Gremlins easily defeated the Auburn Doubledays, 12-1, at Falcon Park, with first baseman Joe Kaye a main contributor to the win. He was 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 5 for Youngstown. Youngstown's record now stands at 27-25, placing them 6th in the New York-Penn League South Division.
In the top of the third, Youngstown shortstop Darwin Simmons had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Simmons stroked a run-scoring single to right-center. It made the score 3-0, Youngstown. For the game, he was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We understand we didn't play our best baseball," said losing manager Carlos Renteria. "We'll shower it off and be ready to compete."
