Gremlins Turn Back Tigers, 8-6
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Connecticut Tigers and Youngstown Gremlins get after it.
The Youngstown Gremlins defeated the Connecticut Tigers, 8-6, at Eastwood Field. Logan Alona, who is tied for 6th in the NYP in triples with 2, was a standout performer for Youngstown. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 2 he knocked in. Shannon Hadley got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings.
With the game tied, 6-6, in the bottom of the seventh, Alona had a key at-bat for Youngstown. With the bases loaded, Alona hit a 2-run single off Adrian Bright, making the score 8-6, Gremlins.
"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Josh Bieber.
The Gremlins raised their record to 23-26.
