Ironbirds Top Doubledays in Extras, 8-6
|
A.J. Shafer had a hand in Aberdeen defeating Auburn by the score of 8-6. Shafer went 3 for 7 at the plate, scoring 3 times and driving in 1 runs. At 12-14, the Ironbirds are currently 6th in the New York-Penn League South Division.
Mark McKnight went 1-5 with a walk for Aberdeen. The 23-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the 11th. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off A.J. Turner. It was his 10th RBI of the season.
"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Shafer.
