Gremlins Zap Tigers, 6-3
|
The Youngstown Gremlins cut down the Connecticut Tigers by the score of 6-3, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Homer Bennett. Bennett was 2 for 3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Gremlins. The win went to Mick Rall in relief, making him now 4-0. Todd Tanner took the loss for Connecticut. The Gremlins saw their win-loss record go to 28-22. At the same time, the Tigers fell to 26-24.
Bennett contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Youngstown in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Bennett took a fastball from Todd Tanner and stroked the double to right. His 15th double of the season allowed the Gremlins to leap in front, 3-2.
Youngstown manager Brandon Haviland called it "a good, solid win."
