Jamestown Topples Aberdeen, 7-5
|
Jamestown and Aberdeen duked it out and the Jammers came out victorious.
Led by Peter Zhong, the Jamestown Jammers downed the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 7-5. Zhong was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles for the Jammers. Ambrosio Cruz, now 3-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. Sam González nailed down the save.
Jamestown used a clutch at-bat from Evan DeVlieger to capture the win. The catcher hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Jammers ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"You can't take yourself too seriously," Zhong told the Jamestown Daily News. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."
Today's win puts Jamestown at 21-29, while Aberdeen falls to 26-24.
