Black Bears Drop to .500 After 8-3 Loss to Spinners
The Lowell Spinners beat the West Virginia Black Bears, 8-3, at Dutchess Stadium. Kyrie Kerr, who is rated as the 32nd best prospect by BNN, starred for Lowell. He went 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The winning pitcher was Sherman Fritz. He tossed 92 pitches over 5.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits. The win makes Lowell 22-28.

Lowell catcher Cole Sammons contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 24th hit of the season and put the Spinners ahead, 5-3.

"Things kind of got away from us," said West Virginia skipper Jesus Sánchez.
