Spikes Snatch 2-1 Win
|
State College Spikes pitcher Jon Serrano was all business, helping his team muzzle the Vermont Lake Monsters, 2-1. Serrano, now 5-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no runs. The Spikes sit in third place in the New York-Penn League South Division with a record of 27-17.
State College center fielder A.J. Sandoval contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 7th hit of the season and put the Spikes ahead, 2-0.
"Runs were tough to come by," said Sandoval. "But we scored just enough to win."
