Cavalry Get Past Aberdeen for 5-4 Win
|
The New Westminster Cavalry took Aberdeen pitcher Mohan Lucas's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Grays Harbor Ballpark. The final score had New Westminster getting past the Ironbirds, 5-4. Lucas went 5 innings and allowed no runs, striking out 5. The 'W' lifts New Westminster's record to 9-15.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when New Westminster designated hitter Vismel De Leon, facing Brent McRae, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Cavalry the 5-4 win.
"We ground out the win," said De Leon. "That's all that matters."
