Ironbirds Lose at Home, 5-4
|
The Jamestown Jammers picked up a win at Ripken Stadium, knocking off the Aberdeen Ironbirds, 5-4. On the mound for Jamestown was right-hander Sebastian Oliver. He played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Oliver, now 3-2. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 7. The save went to Linus Hanvey, number 5 for him.
Jamestown won the game in part because of Isaac Brown. The first baseman ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Jammers ahead, 3-0. For the game, Brown had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Nervous? No," said Oliver. "It was my time to shine."
After today's action, Jamestown sits at 18-22; Aberdeen slips to 20-20.
