Ironbirds Bridle Tigers, 4-2
|
Aberdeen Ironbirds starter Aaron Trent was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Connecticut Tigers, 4-2. Trent, now 2-3, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The Ironbirds saw their win-loss record go to 15-27. At the same time, the Tigers fell to 15-27.
The Tigers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Ironbirds going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old left fielder Jeremy Niese came to the plate. Niese hit a run-scoring double on a 2-0 fastball from Connecticut hurler Thomas Lubis. It was Niese's 7th double of the year.
"I was able to fill up the zone," said Trent.
