Auburn got a terrific game from left fielder Stewart Cicero. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Staten Island, 10-4. Cicero was 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Holden Gray picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Júlio Fernández suffered the loss. The Pizza Rats go to 23-16, putting them third in the New York-Penn League South Division.

Had Levi Ahrndt not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Ahrndt hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Pizza Rats.

"We did more than enough to get the win," said Ahrndt.
