Cyclones Nudge Past Black Bears, 6-5
|
Brooklyn beat West Virginia at Dutchess Stadium, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to catcher Harrison Young. He was 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Marco Concepcion, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. With the victory, the Cyclones record stands at 22-19.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Yunier Fonseca? The 23-year old center fielder Fonseca stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put Brooklyn up, 5-4. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 2 doubles and 1 single.
"I just tried to put the barrel on it," said Young.
