The Maine Lobsters defeated the Staten Island Pizza Rats, 9-1, at Portland Ballpark. Maine was led by 24-year old catcher Chuck Fitzhugh, who was 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Maine now sits at 18-18, while Staten Island falls to 21-15.

With Maine leading 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth, Fitzhugh came up to bat against Staten Island pitcher Emmanuel Abreu. Fitzhugh hit a fastball to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season put the Lobsters on top, 9-0.

"We took a roundhouse punch to the chin," said losing manager Max Collison.
