Pizza Rats Take Down Lake Monsters, 7-3
|
No one was more impactful than Zachary Lawlor in an extra-inning, 7-3 Staten Island win over Vermont. Lawlor was 3-5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Their 21-14 record puts the Pizza Rats third in the New York-Penn League South Division.
Staten Island used the timely hitting of Oscar García to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Pizza Rats on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
García told a Staten Island Times reporter that he felt "like dancing the hula" after the win.
