Red-Hot Spikes Win 10th Straight
|
The State College Spikes beat the Oil City Oilers at Bowman Field. The final score was 7-6, in favor of State College. José Romero led the way, going 2-for-3 for the home team. Manuel Chaves snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. The 25-12 Spikes have won 10 games in a row.
Romero had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a first pitch fastball from Juan Perez, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Spikes a 7-6 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Romero.
"We need to get back to basics," said Oil City manager Zeke Butler.
