Vermont took on State College in front of a lively crowd.

Vermont Lake Monsters pitcher Nick Ezell was in fine form, leading his team past the State College Spikes, 5-0. The winning pitcher was Ezell, now 3-2. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 9.

Jason Wilkinson had a big 3-run home run for the Lake Monsters in the bottom of the second inning. With Vermont leading 2-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a fastball from Lance Park, who is tied for 3rd in the NYP in strikeouts with 46, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Lake Monsters on top, 5-0.

Wilkinson said his team "played with a purpose."

The win puts the Lake Monsters at 20-18, while the Spikes drop to 30-8.
