Tigers Take Down Doubledays, 9-4
|
Connecticut designated hitter Henry Mejia was instrumental in helping the Tigers triumph, 9-4, over the Auburn Doubledays. Mejia went 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Patrick Marionneaux, the winner, improved to 2-3. He held the Doubledays to 2 runs on 6 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. Connecticut's record now stands at 14-17, placing them 6th in the New York-Penn League South Division.
Doc McKay hit a 2-run double off Welington García in the bottom of the fourth, which put the Tigers in front, 4-2. In addition to the double, McKay had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 4.
"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said McKay. "It sure beats the alternative."
