The Tri-City ValleyCats topped the Oil City Oilers, 5-4, with youngster Eduardo Polina playing a key role. Polina was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the ValleyCats in the win. Jeff Ponton got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 6.1 innings. Tri-City is now 14-17.

The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Polina hit a 2-run home run off Pierce Kose. It propelled the ValleyCats into the lead, 2-0.

Tri-City manager Jim Kleeman called it "a good, solid win."
