West Virginia parlayed a decent outing from starter Chase Pressley into a solid win over the Staten Island Pizza Rats. The final score was 3-2. The winner in relief was Ethan Damron. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. Ryan Gordon earned the save for West Virginia, his 8th of the year.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Albert Romasanta was at the plate when West Virginia scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Black Bears to go in front, 3-2.
