Spinners Beat Lobsters, 5-1
|
Lowell used a superb performance from starting pitcher Rafael Jiménez to down the Maine Lobsters, 5-1. Jiménez, now 1-2, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Lowell is 14-16 and Maine, with the loss, 17-13.
Adrián Villicana, who is tied for 7th in the NYP in runs scored with 18, chipped in a 3-run home run for Lowell in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"Rafael's focus was outstanding. The way he handled every moment -- when there was a little trouble, he didn't lose his tempo or his rhythm," said Lowell manager Geoff Fitzsimmons.
