Slumping Gremlins Lose 6th Straight
|
Mike Cothern knocked in 3 runs to help State College beat Youngstown, 8-6. Cothern produced 1 single, 1 double, and 1 home run. State College reliever Jermain Shaw was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was Collin Dehghan. The winning streak has now reached 9 games for State College.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Brad Rutgers was at the plate when State College scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Spikes to go in front, 7-6.
"We feel like we're going to win every game right now," said State College skipper Bobby Spencer.
