Ironbirds Score 3-1 Win Over Staten Island
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Aberdeen Ironbirds and the Staten Island Pizza Rats, 20-year old left-handed pitcher Allberto Pineco proved to be the difference. The Aberdeen left-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Ironbirds win. Pineco yielded no runs over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-1. The win for the Ironbirds raised their record to 17-13.
Ray Rousseau had a direct impact on the outcome. Rousseau contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Aberdeen up, 1-0.
"Not enough offensively in a winnable game," said losing manager Max Collison.
