Tigers Fall Short, 5-4, at Staten Island
|
The Staten Island Pizza Rats and Connecticut Tigers played an entertaining game for Richmond County Bank Ballpark patrons.
Staten Island designated hitter Aston Hernandez helped his team beat the Connecticut Tigers, 5-4. Hernandez went 3 for 4 for the Pizza Rats. The Pizza Rats are now 18-11, while the Tigers fall to 15-14.
The Pizza Rats got a big at-bat from catcher Peyton Davidson. For the game, Davidson went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Staten Island a 4-3 lead.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Connecticut manager Simon Begum. "The effort was great."
