Blaze Suffer 9-6 Loss to Giants
|
T.R. Halverson was a major factor in the 9-6 San Jose win over Bakersfield. The Giants third baseman was 3 for 3 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI. Nicolas Guerrero came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Teddy Merrill sewed up the save, his 2nd.
Contributing to the San Jose win was Bryan Jones. In the top of the seventh, the 25-year old second baseman had a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-4, the Giants in front.
"It's not about individual awards," Jones told a San Jose Today reporter after the game. "It's about winning championships. That's what we play for."
The win puts San Jose at 4-8.
