Behind an impressive start by Gino Barrera, State College beat Lowell, 4-0. Barrera got the win, improving to 2-1. He gave up 1 hit and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed no runs. The Spikes go to 13-11, putting them 4th in the New York-Penn League South Division.
State College used the hitting of Charles Bliss to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Spikes on top, 3-0. For the game, Bliss had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"Gino threw the ball very, very well," said State College manager Bobby Spencer.
