ValleyCats Score Late to Upend Tigers, 1-0
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Tri-City ValleyCats and the Connecticut Tigers, James Ureña was the X factor. The Tri-City right-hander spearheaded the 1-0 win. The winner was Horácio Reyes in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Noah Stoker took the loss. Isaac Suchinda, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Lamarcus Dubois came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Connecticut pitcher Noah Stoker, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Tri-City on top, 1-0.
"Good teams find a way to win close games," Dubois said.
Tri-City currently is in 4th place in the New York-Penn League North Division at 14-9.
