Cothern Swings Spikes to 8-1 Win
|
The State College Spikes used the hitting of first baseman Mike Cothern to subdue the Atlantic City Jokers, 8-1. For the game, Cothern went 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5. The win belonged to L.J. Sheppard in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Cesar Almanzar took the loss for Atlantic City. After today's action, State College sits at 20-5; Atlantic City slips to 11-14.
Early in the game, Cothern had a 2-run triple for State College. It was his 1st triple of the season and put the Spikes on top, 2-0.
"There's losing your stroke and finding your stroke," said Cothern. "I guess I've found mine."
