Hot Start Continues for Doubledays
|
The Auburn Doubledays got a marvelous performance from pitcher Iggy Leyva. The right-hander kept the Hamilton offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 5-2 Auburn victory at Falcon Park. Leyva got the win, improving to 3-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. He allowed 1 run. The win lifted the Auburn record to 14-5.
The Doubledays got a big at-bat from center fielder Orestes Navarrete. For the game, Navarrete went 1 for 1 with a double. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Auburn a 2-1 lead.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Navarrete said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
