Rapids Score 4-1 Win Over Youngstown
|
Soggy conditions did not keep Niagara Falls and Youngstown from playing their scheduled game.
Niagara Falls used a superb performance from starting pitcher Carlos Saucedo to down the Youngstown Gremlins, 4-1. Saucedo, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks.
Niagara Falls won the game in part because of Sebastian Matteo. The shortstop ripped a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Rapids ahead, 4-0. For the game, Matteo had 2 doubles and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Carlos is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Niagara Falls manager Josh Reeder.
Niagara Falls has now won 4 straight.
