Black Bears Edge Past Gremlins, 5-4
The West Virginia Black Bears defeated the Youngstown Gremlins, 5-4, at Dutchess Stadium. Leading the charge for West Virginia was first baseman Nickenson Baal. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Sean Anderson snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 1.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. The Black Bears are now 10-10, while the Gremlins fall to 11-9.

The decisive blow was delivered by Tyson Hopkins in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a solo home run off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Oliver Baecht to win the game for West Virginia. The home crowd went nuts.

"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Baal told the West Virginia News.
