Black Bears Secure 2-0 Win
|
In a tight contest between the West Virginia Black Bears and the Brooklyn Cyclones, Justin Gruber was the determining factor. The West Virginia right-hander sparkled in his team's 2-0 win. The winner was Gruber. He threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Max Janca. At 12-7, the Black Bears find themselves in third place in the New York-Penn League South Division.
West Virginia took a 2-0 lead on Marvin Aguilera's 2nd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Aguilera hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Brooklyn pitcher Mark Williamson visibly frustrated.
Aguilera expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
