Tri-City ValleyCats starter T.J. Philpott turned in an exceptional performance against the Lowell Spinners at Edward A. LeLacheur Park, resulting in a Tri-City win, 4-1. The winning pitcher was Philpott, now 1-0. He tossed 5.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Kyle Panella earned the save for Tri-City, his 2nd of the year.

Aaron Cummins had a direct impact on the outcome. Cummins contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put Tri-City up, 3-0.

"We put together a nice win," Cummins said.

The losses continue to add up for Lowell, having now dropped 8 straight.
