Doubledays Take Tight Tilt, 4-3
|
With right fielder Dominic Zens leading the charge, the Auburn Doubledays defeated the Jamestown Jammers, 4-3, at Falcon Park. Zens, who is tied for 5th in the NYP in triples with 1, went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI. Auburn pitcher Eugene Turner got the win, upping his record to 1-0. Israel García got the loss. Getting the save was Kyle Hartman, his 6th.
The game turned with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Zens hit a run-scoring single off Maurício Bazan. It propelled the Doubledays into the lead, 3-2.
In postgame remarks, Zens applauded his team's "toughness."
At 9-7, Auburn is in second place in the New York-Penn League North Division.
