|
The Vermont Lake Monsters defeated the Atlantic City Jokers, 6-4, at Centennial Field. Clifford Wise, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2058 draft, was a standout performer for Vermont. His 2 hits included 1 single and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Ramón Lizarraga, now 1-0, was credited with the win in 3 innings of relief. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. The Lake Monsters now have a mark of 12-5.
Naldo Merino, who is tied for 8th in the NYP in home runs with 4, helped out the Vermont cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the center fielder was 2 for 4 with a double.
Wise told a local reporter: "My job is to go out and play as hard as I can."
