Floundering Doubledays Lose 9th Straight
|
The timely hitting of Hayes Kittredge helped the Youngstown Gremlins down the Auburn Doubledays, 5-2. Kittredge went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Gremlins. The winner was Youngstown reliever Shannon Hadley, now 1-0. The loser was Hayden Mars. The save went to Lee Shape, number 4 for him.
Kittredge had a game-changing double in the top of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Hayden Mars, he banged a run-scoring double to left-center, giving the Gremlins a 3-2 lead. It was the 2nd double of the year for Kittredge.
"We haven't been playing to the level we want to play," said Auburn manager Carlos Renteria.
The losses continue to pile up for Auburn, which has now fallen 9 times in a row.
