Gremlins Nipped by Ironbirds, 9-8
|
Good production from first baseman J.D. Leese helped the Aberdeen Ironbirds topple the Youngstown Gremlins, 9-8. Leese was 3-6 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Ironbirds. Aberdeen reliever Apollo Kuhn picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jeffrey Appleton took the loss. The victory gives Aberdeen a record of 11-5.
The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Leese delivered big-time for Aberdeen, stroking a dramatic solo home run off Jeffrey Appleton. The game-changing hit put the Ironbirds on top, 9-8.
"This team has the heart of a lion," said Ironbirds manager Alden Fuentes.
