State College catcher Charles Bliss had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 7-5, to West Virginia at Dutchess Stadium. Bliss went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Leroy Dew got credit for the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. António González earned his 4th save, after closing out the game.

The Black Bears got a big at-bat from catcher Brandon Escobedo. For the game, Escobedo went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave West Virginia a 6-4 lead.

"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said West Virginia manager Jesus Sánchez.

After losing, State College is 6-5.
