Black Bears Snatch Late-Game, 2-1 Win
In a low-scoring contest, West Virginia pitcher Hunter Wallace was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-1 win. K.J. Whitney picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Pio Cardenas suffered the loss. The Tigers drop to 5-5 and continue their mediocre start to the 2058 season.

Senino Vasques was the walk-off hero for West Virginia. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Black Bears third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"I like our mental toughness," said West Virginia manager Jesus Sánchez.
