The West Virginia Black Bears got a magnificent performance from pitcher Chase Pressley, who muffled the Lowell offense en route to a tight, 3-0 Black Bears win at Edward A. LeLacheur Park. Pressley got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Lowell drops to 4-2.

Victor Cantu had a direct impact on the outcome. Cantu contributed a run-scoring triple in the top of the third inning to put West Virginia up, 1-0.
