Aberdeen Wins, 4-2, in Extra Innings
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Jamestown Jammers home opener. Jason Whiteside started for the home team against Benicio Robledo for the Aberdeen Ironbirds. The Jammers were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 4-2, Aberdeen, in 11 innings. Benicio Robledo, though, was impressive. Guillermo Moreno was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Dave Porcello.
Justin Raymond delivered a big hit for Aberdeen. The left fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Ironbirds ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"Benicio was the difference maker. He was emotionally under control, had good stuff and makeup," said Aberdeen manager Alden Fuentes.
