Rapids Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Tigers, 5-4
|
The Niagara Falls Rapids gave their fans something to talk about with a thrilling, walk-off win.
The Niagara Falls Rapids defeated the Connecticut Tigers, 5-4, in 14 innings. Much of the credit belonged to third baseman Remy Patrick, who went 4 for 6 with 4 singles and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times for the Rapids. Niagara Falls reliever Austin Wenrich picked up the win to move to 1-0. Donald Van Riper suffered the loss.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 14th inning, when Niagara Falls right fielder Archer Loera, facing Donald Van Riper, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Rapids the 5-4 win.
"Both teams played hard," said Niagara Falls manager Josh Reeder.
Niagara Falls sits at 2-3.
