Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Niagara Falls Rapids home opener. Jeremiah Yurcak started for the home team against Nick Sands for the Connecticut Tigers. The Rapids were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 4-1, Connecticut, in 12 innings. Nick Sands, though, was impressive. Pio Cardenas picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Brantley Salvant was tagged with the loss.

Stanley Sangolt had a direct impact on the outcome. Sangolt contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the 12th inning to put Connecticut up, 2-1.

"It took some doing, but we got what we came for," said Tigers manager Simon Begum.
