Ironbirds Walk It Off for 3rd Win of Season
Jamestown got a terrific performance from pitcher Ward Cantu, but it wasn't enough to beat the Aberdeen Ironbirds. Aberdeen won the Ripken Stadium contest, 5-3. Cantu threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Josh Kiser was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Gus Herm. Jamestown is 1-3 after the defeat.

Aberdeen got a knockout punch from Noah Mertens. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"Great to get the crowd on its feet," Mertens said.
