Oilers Subdue Tri-City, 2-0
|
The Tri-City ValleyCats got a superb performance from pitcher Curly Piker. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Oil City. The Oilers won the game, 2-0. Piker threw 5.1 innings of shutout ball. Juan Perez picked up his 1st save of the season. The win puts Oil City at 1-1.
The Oilers got a gift in the bottom of the seventh inning, when they were leading 1-0. With two out and the bases loaded, Drake Rathbone reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run. It made the score 2-0, Oil City.
"Coulda, shoulda, woulda," said Tri-City manager Nate Holts. "We had our chances and didn't cash in."
