The 4-1 Oil City win over Staten Island was due largely to James Fitzgerald. The Oilers designated hitter went 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Stanley Hida earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. The Oilers, now 2-0, have hit the ground running this season.

The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Fitzgerald hit a 2-run home run off Grady Pelletier. It propelled the Oilers into the lead, 2-0.

Fitzgerald called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
