Fire Frogs Fall Short at Traverse City, 2-1
In a low-scoring affair between the Traverse City Pit Spitters and the Florida Fire Frogs, pitcher Mercury Gracia was the difference between victory and defeat. The Traverse City right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 2-1 Pit Spitters win. Traverse City reliever Nash Gladman picked up the win, raising his record to 1-1. Steve Watt was tagged with the loss. Odilon Lares earned the save for Traverse City, his 17th.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Yesús Roa came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Florida pitcher Steve Watt, he hit a 1-1 splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Traverse City on top, 2-1.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Roa.

Traverse City is in last place in the East Coast League Mideast Division with a record of 36-49.
