Flying Tigers Bump Off Red Sox, 9-4
|
The 9-4 Lakeland win over Salem was due in large part to Hunter Lapuerta. The Flying Tigers shortstop went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The win was credited to 24-year old right-handed pitcher Luke Bigsby in relief. His record improves to 6-0. Grant McGill took the loss. The last-place Flying Tigers now have a record of 30-44.
With Lakeland leading 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth, Lapuerta hit a fastball from Grant McGill for a solo home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Flying Tigers ahead, 5-3.
"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said Lakeland manager Peter Carter.
