Mariners Win in Extras, 7-5
|
The Virginia Beach Mariners topped the Hudson Valley Renegades by a score of 7-5. Leading the way was designated hitter Daniel Alcantara. Alcantara slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Mariners. Virginia Beach now sits at 43-33, while Hudson Valley falls to 45-31.
Alcantara had a game-changing home run in the top of the 15th. On a full count fastball from Gibson Raya, he banged a 2-run home run to right-center, giving the Mariners a 7-5 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Alcantara.
"When you think about it," Alcantara said, "there's often a fine line between triumph and tragedy. One pitch, one swing of the bat can make all the difference."
